Previs 101

In this comprehensive course students will learn the collaborative process of previsualization to create virtual environments that explore creative ideas, help plan technical solutions and communicate a shared vision for production of narrative media.

Among the subjects covered will be the uses of various digital tools to previsualize story sequences and shots for production. Demonstrations include 3D asset preparation, camera placement and animation, vfx techniques, animation techniques, 3D rendering, editing and finishing touches before final presentation.

Please note: This is not a 101 level course. This is an intermediate to advanced level class. It will be taught primarily in Autodesk Maya, therefore students must be familiar with that application and should be able to do basic poly modeling, basic animation, character animation (not necessary but highly suggested), knowledge of cinematic language (not necessary but highly suggested)

Prerequisite: Knowledge of Autodesk Maya (basic modeling, animation), Photoshop basics and editing basics (Final Cut, Premiere).
